My wife has a car with a petrol-saving feature for winter driving – it won’t start. But winter must be over soon as the clocks go forward on Sunday 31 March; Mothering Sunday falls on the same date. Easter Sunday can fall between 22 March and April 25 and is very late this year, 21 April.

One thing, however, is always up-to-date, the Fordingbridge Camera Club. We meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm most Wednesdays of the season. Our website, www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk contains our club programme. It is a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers coupled with opportunities to show your work on top quality equipment and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. Visitors are always welcome to our meetings for a small charge. In addition to our regular meetings, we devote many evenings to those who want, as a group, to set themselves new challenges and then to review the results collectively. These additional sessions have proven to be very popular and have added strength to our work and are also open to visitors. Two of our very experienced club members, Ashley and Julie, are talking on “Practical Wedding Photography” on 27 March. Well worth attending if you are attending a wedding after that date! Even flower arrangers are catered for - 24 April is devoted to “Still Life and Flowers”.

It is worth remembering on Mothering Sunday that behind every mother - is a basket of dirty laundry. Easter Eggs will be evident well before April.
