Spoiler, no jokes about Christmas yet!
Tom's November Publicity
06/10/2018
Sunday 28 October brings an extra lie- in with the clocks going back one hour, all stemming from the suggestion of Benjamin Franklin who thought it would be a good way to save candles.
An even older idea is Halloween which takes place on 31 October. Commercial interests have made much of this date now with witches and evil spirits – my wife will not let me even look out of the window now in case people think it’s Halloween already.
Fordingbridge Camera Club is not quite so old, just over 60, but is still full of good spirit and humour, and a few ghouls and ghosties, but what do we have to offer in November?
www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk lists our programme for the year; Tuesday 14th features – “The Experience and Progression of a Mature Student”, 28 November also covers personal growing experience in photography with “My Fellowship and beyond.”
We meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm most Wednesdays of the season for a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers coupled with opportunities to show your work and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges.
Visitors are always welcome for a small fee. In addition to our regular meetings we are devoting many evenings for those who want, as a group, to set themselves new challenges and then to review the results collectively.
Druids claimed that on this special Halloween night, they could communicate with the spirits of the departed. Furthermore, far from being threatening, the ghosts of the ancestors could assist the druids in foretelling what was going to happen in the year that was about to begin.
I think we would all like to know where we will be with Brexit in 2019. Maybe I could go back to my old job – I used to run a dating agency for hens but I was struggling to make hens meet!
