On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me - all the Christmas bills! So what about your New Year Resolutions? After all the soul-searing work you had, wracking your conscience, identifying your shortcomings and planning how you could improve - are you keeping up with your resolutions? Of course, I’m very lucky, I don’t have to work out what I need on my list - my wife writes it out for me. One resolution you should always add to your list is to join the Fordingbridge Camera Club. We meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm on alternate Wednesdays. Our website, www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk has our programme for the season. It is a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers, coupled with opportunities to show your work and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. In addition to our regular meetings, we are devoting many evenings to Practical Photography, a group to help members who are new-comers to photography. These sessions have proven to be very popular but are only open to club members.
A reminder - if you want to see work of a high standard that will inspire you, join us 7.30pm at the Town Hall on Wednesday 3 April. We are holding the 2013 Fordingbridge Challenge and photographic clubs from the South will be competing, showing their best images. The projected images will be judged by Leo Rich, a top photographer, commenting on the strengths, and weaknesses, of each image. This will be a learning experience for beginners and experienced photographers. Visitors (£3) are welcome.
One bright light on the horizon, British Summer Time begins this month, 31 March. We will then remember the wonderful Paralympics we had last summer – although I hear that a number of wheelchair contestants tested positive for WD40.
