September
Having trouble remembering passwords? I have solved that problem; my only password from now on will be –‘amnesia’. One thing that I can’t forget - the new season for Fordingbridge Camera Club starts on Wednesday 5 September 2012. Other good news is that Britain has even more Olympic Gold medals but I think I heard that, unfortunately, Greece is now in debt by 14 medals.
We normally meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm on alternate Wednesdays but our first few meetings this year, 5th to 19th September, will be held at the Town Hall. Work on upgrading Avonway is still ongoing.
Our programme for the new season is a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers, coupled with opportunities to show your work and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. In addition to our regular meetings, we are devoting many evenings to Practical Photography, a group to help members who are new-comers to photography. These sessions have proven to be very popular but are only open to club members. Our first meeting is free to visitors and is a getting- to- know- you meeting with wine and nibbles. All are welcome to this where we hope to meet again those who visited us at various Summer Shows, those who want to know what we have to offer this year and our regular members. Our meeting on 19th September is ‘Widening Your Horizons’ by Janet Haines ARPS. Janet is well known for her very wide range of styles of photography and beautiful images. Visitors welcome, £3 at the door. If you are in need of inspiration this is an evening not to be missed.
China has won a load of gold medals and I suspect that the Chinese athletes can’t wait to get home and show the medals off to the kids who made them.
