Summer Activities

After all the Diamond Jubilee festivities what is there left to do? Well, why not come to another Festival - the Fordingbridge Festival - to be held on Saturday 21 July. Amongst all the exciting things to see are classic cars, animal corner, the horticultural displays etc. You can also get some fascinating photos of the duck race. An important must is to visit the Fordingbridge Camera Club display. Unfortunately no Royalty will be available there, only members of the club who are always pleased to show you the work they do and to meet our readers and talk about photography or anything else for that matter. If you can’t make that date we will also be at the Ellingham Show (11 August) and at Frogham (25 August). The festivities of the last few weeks mean I shall have had to cut back on the calories. But always remember, If you are having difficulty deciding which should be your five fruit and vegetables a day – don’t forget chocolate oranges. Why swimming is considered so good for your figure I shall never know; how do you explain whales?
Our recent Exhibition to display member’s work, and to support Avonway Refurbishment Project, raised £500 for Avonway on the day and we have doubled this to £1000. Improvements to Avonway are making this venue a great asset to the community.
Our club year has now come to an end but www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk will soon list our planned events for the new autumn season. These will be a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers coupled with opportunities to show your work and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. I should also report that this month’s column could not have been written without the aid of my Pocket Oxford Dictionary - but I must really get this desk leg mended soon!
