Tom's May Publicity

I was interested to read of Egyptologists and their latest find. I understand they found a mummy covered in chocolate and nuts – they believe it may be Pharaoh Rocher. Closer to home is another interesting find – the Fordingbridge Camera Club. We meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm on alternate Wednesdays. Our website, www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk has our programme for the season. It is a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers, coupled with opportunities to show your work and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. We now have super-dooper projector (WUX4000) and screen. You will never see your images shown to this high standard anywhere else locally. Show us, and yourself, the fantastic images you can take. In addition to our regular meetings, we are devoting many evenings to Practical Photography, a group to help members who are new-comers to photography. These sessions have proven to be very popular but are only open to club members.

It is not too late to encounter the strange world of surreal photography. At 7.30pm on Wednesday 1st May, Mark Mumford FRPS will be at our meeting at Avonway talking about, and showing, his surreal digital art. Visitors (£3) are very welcome.

As we turn our minds now to the end of our club year we are planning our attendance at the various summer shows. The first of these will be at the 5th Annual Fordingbridge Summer Festival, to be held on Saturday 20th July. You will be able to see our work, to talk about photography or just enjoy a good local family day out - children are always welcome. Remember, you should always teach children to be polite and courteous in the home but, unfortunately, this means that when they grow up they will never be first to a vacant space in any car park.
